The middle school at BCS enables pre-teens to transition effectively from elementary to high school.  The primary emphasis in middle school is to teach young people to become responsible individuals.  Understanding that these years are a unique and difficult time for many students, we design our curriculum to interest and engage students in the learning process.  Middle school at BCS is fun, active, and transitional.  BCS middle school teachers each have a special calling to this age group and have the knowledge, compassion, and patience to minister successfully to these distinctive students.

In addition to our core program, we offer middle school students classes in computers, art, music, choir, and physical education.  Extracurricular opportunities include participating on athletic teams, ski club, monthly prayer meetings, the annual school play, and leading in worship or on the student council.

Highlights of the year include special off-campus activities to celebrate Fall, Christmas and Valentine's Day, collections to support local ministries, Spiritual Renewal Day, and a historical field trip each spring. 8th grade researches and presents a Living History Museum, visits a local courtroom, and plans a special end-of-year day trip!

Standout Star Students

The Standout Star Student initiative acknowledges middle school students who demonstrate excellence in various aspects of life, and those whom teachers see actively growing and improving in differing areas of their academic work.  Every month, teachers nominate a student from each grade on the basis of specific criteria and select a recipient from each class to be honored for the ways in which they reflect Christ and the mission of BCS.

  • Integrity: excellence of character demonstrated through respect, honesty, responsibility, self-discipline, and initiative.
  • Academics: class participation, self-motivation, great effort, and persistence.
  • Citizenship: school and community involvement, leadership, service, and positive influence.
  • Growth: improvement, desire to grow academically, spiritually, and in their relationships with peers and adults in their lives.
